Background/How We Met:
Justin and I have known each other all our lives. Our families knew each other very well. Justin and I went to the same High School and had the same mutual friends. However, we never really spoke to one another other than the occasional hello. During Justin’s senior year at Penn State and my junior year at Moravian College, we saw each other at a friend’s wedding. We exchanged a few sentences and a few days after that Justin liked my profile picture on Facebook. He then messaged me making a joke about how he did not want me to think he was a creep (LOL). From there, we stayed in minimal contact through social media; Facebook, twitter and Instagram. Eventually, he asked me out to grab a cup of coffee at a nearby Dunkin Donuts. We met up and sat one evening talking for about 3 hours! Crazy huh? From that point on, we were inseparable.
Engagement:
After a year and a half of dating I graduated from Moravian College. One night he took me to a nice fancy dinner at Grille 3501 where there was wine and romance. At the end of the meal, we were waiting for the bill and Justin gets a “suspicious phone call.” Justin gets up and walks out for a few minutes. When he returns he has a book with him. It was a photobook with all of our pictures laid out. As I was flipping through the book I was in awe of what he had done. As I turned to the next to last page he had a photo of us and had written underneath it, “The Future Mrs. Alkhal” and the last page he had written “Will you marry me?” After I read that, I looked up and he was down on one knee with the ring shining in my face.
Bride’s Advice:
“Do not psycho plan and stress, it is ONLY one day!!! No matter what you do, your day will be special to you and your husband. All the wedding stress and fixing a home will definitely take a toll on you. Just remember to take a deep breath and count to ten. Oh, and don’t take it out on your fiancé! Instead, focus on life after the wedding, your marriage was always the end goal!”
Groom’s Advice:
“You’re going to get stressed and feel overwhelmed. Multiple things are going to be thrown at you including your fiancé asking you for endless opinions. Always keep in mind the clouds go away as soon as that day hits and is replaced with sunshine. As for your fiancé’s constant questions, say yes to everything!”
