What with the dress, attendants, parents, caterer, flowers, hair, makeup, invitations, entertainment, photographer and guest lists, a wedding can be a real show!

So with that being said, why not go all the way? Why not make your special day a production you and your guests will never forget and have your wedding and reception at the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Easton, PA?

“We can make your reception dramatic and fun,” said event coordinator Mike Cook. “Our lobby is very ornate, with a silver leaf ceiling, intricate plasterwork and dramatic staircases — and you can use it in conjunction with any of our other spaces.”

Wedding parties can use the State’s facilities to make a memorable occasion even more so. Imagine how your guests will enjoy

  • Seeing your event posted on the theatre’s marquee
  • Announcements mounted in poster boxes, inside and out
  • A program that’s designed like a playbill
  • Save-the-date notices that resemble theatre tickets
  • A red-carpet entrance, complete with velvet ropes on stanchions

“We want to make the day as easy as possible,” Cook said, “so we also offer a trolley from the nearby parking garage — where we can reserve 60 slots — the use of backstage dressing rooms for last-minute adjustments, and many other fun things that help take the pressure off the bride.”

The State Theatre offers four magnificent spaces that mix elegance and excitement. One of them is sure to be suitable for you.

Easton Hospital Gallery
This modern gallery — designed by Spillman Farmer Architects — is ideal for parties of about 75 people.  It’s quite contemporary, and offers a sharp contrast to the theatre’s historic detail. True to its designation, the space’s white walls are adorned with works by local artists. Featuring a private entrance, the gallery features large windows that overlook Northampton St.

If you think theatre lobbies are just slick spaces selling overpriced popcorn, the State’s mezzanine/lobby area will be a welcome surprise. Dripping with opulence and drama, it offers an elegant, two-level setting for receptions of about 50 guests.

Acopian Ballroom

Named for inventor, industrialist, environmentalist, and humanitarian Sarkis Acopian, the grand ballroom offers a traditional open-floor concept. Featuring round 60-inch tables and gold/ivory Chiavari chairs, the ballroom can provide a dance floor and theater-quality lighting and sound. An adjacent full kitchen is open to any licensed and insured caterer.

You can actually have your wedding and reception on the same historic stage used by scores of national and international stars. It seats about 150 people (even more without a dance floor), and can provide a truly festive ambience.

“One wedding party used our scenery and props to create a ‘Tuscan villa’ backdrop for the ceremony, then switched it to an ‘Irish pub’ for the reception, with a bar right on stage,” Cook said. And if your fantasies include a winter wonderland, just ask — the State Theatre’s snow machine can be at your disposal!

So if you are looking for the “True” fairy tale wedding and reception, make sure you stop by and see the State Theatre Center for the Arts and let your imagination run wild!
