Honeymooners today are looking for unique, exotic and out of the ordinary.

Unlike the days of our parents when Niagara Falls or the Poconos served as the honeymoon hotspot, the locations that seem to be trendy lately are often viewed as bucket list destinations that provide a huge WOW affect! Here are the top 5 most sought after honeymoon destinations!

Tahiti/Bora Bora: Picturesque over the water bungalows and outrigger canoes are the images one envisions when considering Bora Bora.  The St. Regis, Bora Bora; which was the resort featured in the movie “Couples Retreat”, is the largest and most opulent of all the resort in Bora Bora.  However, getting to this dreaming destination is no easy feat.  Flights from Los Angeles are 8 hours and then one must fly on a smaller plane to Bora Bora (which will take another 2 hours).  Budget savvy couples might faint at the costs as a 7 night stay with flights average about $10,000 without meals! windstar cruises

Greece:  Dreaming of white-washed buildings clinging to the side of a cliff and the gorgeous blue Aegean Sea beneath?  Add a splash of ancient history and architecture and traveling to the Greek Isles is the perfect destination for jet setting honeymooners who long for the beach but want the flair of Europe.  Windstar Cruises sails around the Greek Isles and is perfect for honeymooners because they offer an adults only experience as well as white glove service.  Their smaller engine powered sail boats are perfect for docking in the small ports of the Greek Isles and there is no better feeling than waking up in a gorgeous new location without having to unpack every day. To experience this trendy destination you should budget about $7500 for flights and the gourmet included cruise!

CaboCabo:  Lifestyles of the rich and famous often depict Hollywood actors and reality TV celebs partying around the desert meets beach destination of Cabo San Lucas!  Fabulous new adults’ only resorts that are all inclusive make this hot destination very appealing to honeymooners.  The brand new Secrets Marquis with its lavish infinity pool, Jacuzzi rooms, and amazing dining options combined with the stunning sunsets create the perfect honeymoon atmosphere. This destination is priced right for those with a honeymoon budget of about $5000 with airfare and all inclusive 7 night stay! grenada

Grenada:The spice island was always considered one of those far flung Caribbean destinations that looked amazing but was hard to get to and offered little in resort options.  However, in Dec 2013, this all changed with the opening of Sandals La Source.  Now couples who are eager to stay at a Sandals but yearn for a new destination can venture to Grenada and experience the fabulous infinity pool suites (a Sandals first).  Delta airlines also has been adding more nonstop flights from NYC airports so getting to this exotic destination isn’t as hard as it used to be!  Sandals offers different incentives and sales so honeymooners should expect to budget  about $5000 for Nonstop flights from JFK and a 7 night all inclusive stay.

diving_in_phuketThailand:  Nothing says exotic more than a honeymoon to the Far East.  The US dollar goes far in Thailand which means that staying in paradise is even more affordable too.  The beach locations of Koh Samui or Phuket are postcard perfect and relatively affordable.  Beach bungalows that include breakfast and Thai massages cost about $250 per night.  Traveling to Thailand takes over 15 hours and includes traveling over the International Date Line.  This means that a honeymoon to Thailand should be planned to last at least 10 days.  Currently with airfare, a honeymoon couple should estimate to spend about $6000 with flights.
